Goal setting is not a tricky concept to understand you choose a goal that you want to achieve, create a detailed plan, consisting of smaller tasks or objectives that you need to take in order to succeed and than you simply follow this plan, altering it along the way if needed. Pretty easy, isnt it?
Unfortunately, only 5% of people set and achieve their dream goals. Those people, by the way, are among the wealthiest in the world. Studies show that most people do not accomplish their goals, because they fail at the very first step that requires setting clear and realistic goal.
Most people state goals like, I want to move in a nice house, I want to make more money or I want to lose weight. All of these goals are very general and vague.
It is similar to saying, I want to spend my vacation at some place nice without specifying what is nice for you. You may find yourself stuck in the middle of the jungle, admiring the beauty or surrounding Selva and trying not to get bitten by venomous snakes. Or instead of lying on the beach and getting suntan, you can be exploring the cold beauty of North Pole, living inside the igloo and trying to establish contact with local penguins.
Of course, it is a slight exaggeration, but still it has to be taken seriously. By setting unclear goal, you will hardly be happy with the final result.
So what is it that you need to know before you set any goal? First of all your goals should be as specific as possible, by making your goal measurable and setting time limits on it.
Here is an easy goal setting example, By August 31st I want to move in a in a 4,000 square foot 5 bed, 2 bath house, located in Shoreline with front and back garden and private solarium. It should have two fireplaces (one in master bedroom and one in living room) and a balcony with a nice view to the garden. It would also help if youd find a picture of your dream house and post it by your computer, where you would be able to see it quite often.
Our subconscious mind is very powerful. It will work towards any goal that you set in front of him, as long as youll give him detailed instructions of what is it that you truly want. The more energy you spend concentrating on your goal, the more stunning will be the result!
Now when youve learned, how to form you goals correctly, dont waste any of your precious time. Take a piece of paper, write down your goal, and start working towards achieving it today!
